Web 2.0 and Participatory E-Learning

Web 2.0 is a metaphor that implies a paradigm shift in the manner by which web technology is used. Web 2.0 refers to the "read - write Web"; that is, users can not only read what is on the Web, but can also contribute to its contents. In December 2006, Time Magazine named “you” as the person of the year. Web 2.0 (also called the Read-Write Web) empowers learners to generate ideas and comments online (active learning) rather than simply reading or browsing someone else’s comments (passive learning).
